How to become a patient

Who are you?

NHS Patients

The Horder Centre has referral arrangements in place with a number of NHS Primary Care and Hospital Trusts. This means that as an NHS patient you can be referred directly to the Centre for your diagnosis, treatment and care, and your Primary Care or Hospital Trust will pay for everything. You pay absolutely nothing for your treatment and care. However, we do recommend that you make provision for sundry items such as telephone calls, meals for visitors and newspapers, which will need to be paid for prior to your departure.

For NHS patients wishing to choose The Horder Centre directly, you will need to consult your GP who will refer you to us, provided your GP is within the catchment area as shown on the map below.

The Centre currently features on the 'Directory of Service' for the following Primary Care Trusts:

"I was so wonderfully treated - the warmth and kindness shown to me has helped in my recovery. It was more like being in an exclusive hotel than being in hospital. I was made to feel important and special. Words are really inadequate to convey how I feel and my gratitude." JB

Medically insured private patient

The first thing to do is to contact your insurance company to check that you are covered for your proposed treatment programme - including outpatient attendence - and they will advise you as to the next steps.

Prior to arranging your first appointment, you will need a referral letter from your GP. When you attend your first outpatient appointment, you will be asked for your claim form, as provided by your insurance company, in order for us to obtain confirmation that you are covered.

Should your treatment programme require you to be admitted to The Horder Centre, we will ensure that your claim form is completed by the Consultant. We do recommend that you make provision for sundry items such as telephone calls, meals for visitors and newspapers, which will need to be paid for prior to your departure.

Payment for your treatment and care will be requested directly from your insurance company who will inform you of any insurance excesses or shortfalls accordingly.

Self-paying private patient

The cost of any diagnosis, treatment or surgery is calculated on an individual basis as each patient's needs will differ - for example, you may be contacting us because you wish to switch your treatment and care to The Horder Centre. Whatever your reason for wanting private treatment, you can be assured that our wealth of expertise comes with a highly competitive price tag.

To find out more about our prices - including the Centre's Guarantee Scheme - please contact our customer service team, on 01892 600803.
