Modified Pilates
The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI) Modified Pilates is designed by Physiotherapists, specifically for those working in the field of rehabilitation. The traditional Pilates repertoire is broken down into clearly defined levels to ensure a standard, gradual progression towards normal functional movement. The exercises are a form of dynamic stabilisation retraining that reconditions the body from the central core (deep abdominal muscles) to prevent the recurrence of and treat a range of postural and musculoskeletal conditions.
Beginners Modified Pilates Matwork for Low Back Pain
The core stabilising muscles become weak and are often not easily recruited when we have recurring back pain. With regular stimulation and mental focus your core stability will improve and those muscles that have been inactive will over a period of time start to activate automatically. These exercises will not only prevent possible further back problems but are also designed to promote flexibility, endurance, postural awareness and to correct muscle imbalances.

We are able to offer Modified Pilates on a one-to-one basis or in a class environment. Our course of Modified Pilates runs over 6 weeks with clients attending 1 x weekly.
Prior to commencing the course we will send you a self-assessment form to complete and return which will provide us with important information about you and your back pain. Our class is currently at beginners standard which enables you to understand the Pilates principles before progressing on to an intermediate class.
