A guide for patients
Before you arrive as a patient you will receive a 'welcome pack'. This carries all the information you will need to make your stay with us is as rewarding as possible. For example, it has a few tips on what to bring and how to prepare for your visit as shown below:
What to bring with you:Daywear
Nightwear
Toiletries
Walking aidsIf you use walking sticks or crutches don't forget to bring them - or your wheelchair. MedicationPlease pass all your medication and any details to your nurse. We will make sure you continue taking your medication and that you take this home at the end of your stay - unless our doctor advises otherwise. MoneyWe recommend you bring a small amount of money so you can use the pay phone and buy items from the hospital trolley. |
Contact with relatives and friends:Visiting hoursThe Centre offers open visiting however, it would be a great help to our staff if your visitors could come to see you between 2pm and 8pm. Numbers of visitorsTo help you get as much rest as possible we do limit the number of visitors to two for each patient at any given time, and kindly ask that all children are supervised at all times. Making contactWe realise that family and friends want to contact the hospital directly for news of your progress however, we do ask that one relative or friend is nominated as the contact for you. This way, nurses can spend their time caring for as many patients as possible.
Top tipOne: please don't bring any valuables with you.
Keeping track of them can cause unnecessary worry.
Two: Please leave your mobile phone at home or turned off. There is a telephone in each bedroom for you to use. No No'sThe Centre is a smoking-free hospital. |
