Professional Profile
Andrew Skyrme’s interests lie principally in lower limb surgery. Mr Skyrme specialises specifically in complex hip surgery including revision hip surgery, resurfacing, uncemented and cemented replacements. Mr Skyrme uses a variety of bearing surfaces including metallic surfaces, ceramic and also the more traditional metal on polyethylene (plastic). The principal types of hip replacement that Mr Skyrme uses include the Trident uncemented cup (Stryker), the Onifit uncemented Stryker stem, the Exeter stem and also the Birmingham resurfacing.
Personal Profile
Andrew Skyrme lives with his wife, Carmel, and two boys Declan and Marcus, in Alfriston, East Sussex. Andrew and his wife have just built a new house and have spent the last two years on this project.
Andrew’s main interests outside of work include playing golf, sailing and gardening.
Andrew is originally from Wales and is a keen rugby supporter having played rugby for Guy’s Hospital.
Andrew and his wife are still under discussion as to whether their two boys will either play for Wales or England in the 6 Nations – the debate continues.
