Our heritage
The Horder Centre was founded in 1954 by Cecilia Bochenek with Dr Joyce Peake as a charity to help arthritis sufferers. The Centre was named after its first president Lord Horder, a famous physician in his day.
Today sees the Centre's work has extended to joint replacement surgery and other related treatments, and thanks to an investment of over £3.8 million in 2004, The Horder Centre has become a Centre of Excellence, making it one of the most popular specialist hospitals in the South East.
Our three state of the art orthopaedic theatres now see on average of over 200 life changing operations every month.
Working closely with the NHS, private healthcare organisations and other charities our entire staff continue to follow the principles laid down by its founders over 50 years ago:
- Our patients' well being is our primary focus
- To listen to patients
- To offer the best service possible.
