Making a donation

Helping us to help others

Thanks to the generosity of our former patients, friends and supporters, we are able to continue our work here at the Centre. Whilst we work hard to make every penny count and hold our own fundraising events to help pay for improvements and specialist equipment, running a specialist Centre is an expensive business.

Without the generous support of our donors, the help provided by the Centre to patients with arthritis and disabling joint problems, would be severely limited. So if you would like make a donation there are a number of ways to do this:

A one-off gift

Many of our patients choose to make a donation by sending a gift following their stay with us, whilst some choose to donate in other ways.

If you are interested in assigning a gift in the longer term, we recommend that you contact your solicitor who will be able to advise you on which method best suits your circumstances.

Monthly donation by Standing Order

A number of patients and supporters prefer to make a monthly donation and choose to give between £3 and £15 per month.

If you would like to join them, you can either download a form from here:

Or call us on 01892 600 847 and we'll send you a form to complete.

Gift Aid

With Gift Aid, for every £1 you give to The Horder Centre, we can now reclaim 28p from the tax man.

Personal Donations under the Gift Aid Scheme

Gift Aid donations are increased by the amount of basic rate tax paid (currently 22%) which can be reclaimed from the Inland Revenue.

For example:
A donation of £5,000 by Gift Aid is thus worth £6,410
A donation of £10,000 by Gift Aid is thus worth £12,820
A donation of £50,000 by Gift Aid is thus worth £64,102

Legacy

Today, legacies form almost half of our fundraising income. This invaluable contribution enables us to continue the Centre's work and ensure we keep up to date with the latest equipment and technology for our current and future patients.

There are two ways to leave a legacy:

1. Your Will

A simple amendment - known as a 'codicil' - to an existing Will is all that's needed. We recommend you contact a solicitor to ensure any amendment reflects your wishes.

If your Estate is likely to be subjected to Inheritance Tax, leaving a legacy as part of your Will could be a great way to reduce or avoid paying any tax at all. This is in effect a percentage of the remainder of your Estate.

2. A Life Legacy

A life legacy is an ideal way to leave a lump sum to a charity without affecting other elements of your Will. This method enables you to invest a monthly amount which, over time, could create a substantial legacy that will benefit the charity of your choice.

For more information on how to leave a legacy to The Horder Centre, a 3 page brochure is available to download.

Your Estate

A popular way to make a donation is by leaving what's known as a 'residuary' gift. This is in effect, the remainder of your Estate once all your other requirements have been taken into account.

If your Estate is likely to be subjected to Inheritance Tax, leaving a legacy as part of your Will could be a great way to reduce or avoid paying any tax at all. This is in effect a percentage of the remainder of your Estate.

We recommend you contact your solicitor to advise you on how best to make a donation through your estate.
